Contractor Council of India (CCI) – Building India with Quality, Dignity, and Care

At the Contractor Council of India (CCI), we believe that every project, every brick, and every worker plays a vital role in building the nation. Our vision is to promote quality construction, labour welfare, education, safety, and transparency in all construction practices. We aim to unite contractors and labourers under shared values that ensure sustainable growth and nation-building.

1. Quality in Every Project

As contractors, our responsibility is to deliver the highest quality in every project. Quality must never be compromised for the sake of lowering costs. Projects awarded below fair government estimates often compromise material standards, labour welfare, and timely delivery, risking public safety and trust. CCI urges realistic government estimates and a commitment to excellence in every construction project.

2. Respect for Labour – Our Backbone

Labour is the backbone of every project. Without them, no contractor can achieve success. CCI pledges to ensure PF, ESI, medical insurance, and welfare benefits for every worker. Respecting labour is not just a formality – it is our pride, duty, and the foundation of a strong construction industry.

3. Education for Labourers’ Children

Our responsibility goes beyond wages. Contractors should support education for labourers’ children through coordination with local schools, educational support units, and encouragement to attend school. Education uplifts families and builds a stronger future for India.

4. Value of Bills and Transparency

Bills are not just documents; they reflect the effort of labourers and responsibility of contractors. Timely payment ensures proper wages, quality materials, and trust between contractors and clients. CCI appeals to all clients – government, private, and individual – to respect and pay bills on time.

5. Welfare of Labour and Contractors

The welfare of contractors and labourers goes hand in hand. CCI provides resources, guidance, and opportunities to contractors while ensuring fair wages, safety, and respect for workers. Together, labour and contractors drive India’s progress.

6. Appeal to Policymakers for Labour Facilities

Labourers often wait for work in harsh conditions without basic facilities. We appeal to the Prime Minister, MPs, MLAs, and local authorities to provide shaded shelters, toilets, drinking water, and resting areas at labour chowks. These basic facilities ensure dignity for workers.

7. Safety First

Every life is precious. Contractors must maintain strict safety standards at construction sites, including helmets, gloves, boots, safety belts, and regular training. Deadlines or cost-cutting must never come at the expense of human life.

8. Fair Tendering System

Unfair tendering harms quality and exploits workers. CCI advocates a transparent tendering process with realistic pricing and quality standards. Strong foundations require fair and ethical project awards.

9. Timely Payments to Labour

Labourers live on daily wages. Delayed payments cause hardship for families and reduce trust. Contractors must commit to paying wages on time, and clients should release payments promptly.

10. Skill Development for Labour

A skilled workforce delivers better quality, works safely, and earns more. CCI promotes training in modern tools, machinery, and digital techniques, turning unskilled workers into skilled professionals, uplifting families, and strengthening the industry.

11. Pension & Old Age Security

Workers deserve financial security in old age. CCI appeals to the government to strengthen pension schemes and encourages registration under welfare boards. Every lifetime contribution should be rewarded with dignity.

12. Green & Sustainable Construction

Development should not harm the environment. Contractors should adopt eco-friendly practices, recycle waste, reduce pollution, use energy-efficient equipment, and embrace green building methods. Sustainable construction ensures a healthier planet for future generations.

13. Equal Respect for Women Labour

Women labourers are essential yet often face unequal pay and unsafe conditions. CCI pledges equal wages, safe working conditions, rest areas, and childcare support for women workers, strengthening families and communities.

14. Health Camps & Medical Check-ups

A healthy workforce is a productive workforce. CCI recommends regular health camps at sites, basic medical check-ups, vaccinations, and hygiene awareness. Labourers should not have to choose between health and livelihood.

15. Unity of Contractors

Contractors must unite under one council to protect rights, influence policy, and ensure fairness. Unity empowers the industry, ensuring better outcomes for contractors, labourers, and the nation.

16. Recognition & Awards

Hard work deserves recognition. Contractors and labourers maintaining high standards in quality, safety, and welfare should be honoured. Recognition motivates others to adopt best practices and drive industry progress.

Closing Pledge of CCI

We, the Contractor Council of India, pledge to work with honesty, fairness, and responsibility. Our charter is built on seven pillars:

  1. Quality First – No compromise on quality.

  2. Respect for Labour – PF, ESI, medical, and welfare benefits for all workers.

  3. Education for the Next Generation – Support education for labourers’ children.

  4. Value of Bills – Ensure timely payment for trust and transparency.

  5. Welfare for All – Protect welfare of labourers and contractors alike.

  6. Appeal to Policymakers – Provide basic facilities at labour chowks.

  7. Unity for Nation Building – Contractors and labour together are the true nation builders.

Quality, respect, and education are the pillars of CCI. By upholding these values, we are not just completing projects – we are building India’s future.
